Run and pause
Turn on, the 6:00 AM run, pause and Run, and changing a running automation.
Turn on
Only an Owner or Admin can turn an automation on. The cost review shows:
- the list and how many entries it has;
- each signal and its credits per record;
- the actions, the interval and your time zone;
- the credits needed per week and per 30 days, and your balance.
If something blocks Turn on, the review names it: no business context, no action, no signal, a signal still pending or rejected, or an empty list.
The first time your organization turns an automation on, its time zone is set from that person's browser.
The 6:00 AM run and slots
Runs happen at 6:00 AM in your organization's time zone. Shadowspect gives each record a slot, a number from 0 to the interval length in days minus one. On each day it checks only the records in that day's slot. A weekly automation checks about one seventh of the list each day. A record is checked once per interval.
The first run is the first 6:00 AM after you turn it on whose slot holds a record. A run whose time has passed is skipped, not caught up.
Pause and Run
An Owner or Admin can pause a running automation from the builder, the Automations table or the Dashboard. The automation shows as Paused at once, and a message offers Undo for 5 seconds. Undo takes the pause back as if it never happened. After 5 seconds the pause is final.
A paused automation makes no new checks. Press Run when you are ready. Run starts the automation again with the next scheduled check. It does not research the paused time, so the days in between show as a gap. The first comparison after Run is only a new starting point and sends no alert.
If you press Run while the 5 seconds are still open, the pause is taken back.
A paused automation is not the same as one paused for credits. An automation paused for credits resumes by itself when credits return. One you paused stays paused until you press Run.
A running automation keeps its approved settings until a change is confirmed.
Changing a running automation
Applies at once
An Owner or Admin can change the name and the actions at once. They change no cost.
Waits for confirmation
Changes to the list, the signals or the interval become a pending change.
- Any member can stage one.
- An Owner or Admin reviews the cost and confirms it.
- A newer edit replaces the waiting one.
- On confirmation Shadowspect updates the automation and re-plans which records are checked on which day.
Until then the automation runs as before.
